Harrison County 63 Paris 50

Featured Replies

Thorobreds break a 39-39 tie after 3 quarters to pick up the win. Harrison was lethargic for much of the game but pulled away with a strong finish on the Hilltop. Breds improve to 9-13 while Paris falls to 5-15.

Harrison Co. has probably overachieved this year, considering the difficult schedule they have played along with the fact that two or three players that should have played and been big contributors, aren't even on the team this year. A couple of strong classes (9th and 10th graders) could mean HC may rejoin the regional elite in a year or two. The team seems to be improving as the season wears on and could be a tough out come post-season time.

The big kid for Paris is a horse inside...could play for about any team in the region. Put him on Scott's team, or any other team that has strong perimeter play and they become automatic contenders.

I understand that there are some players who were expected to be contributors who are not playing but to say that they have overachieved is a bit of a stretch. Of the 9 wins, only 1 has come against a team with a winning record (Franklin County 88-86 at home after leading 82-57 with 4 1/2 minutes to play) and several of the losses were against teams with losing records who are not powerhouse basketball schools. I agree that the Sophomore class could bring some funtimes to the Hilltop before they are done if they stick with it. It will be nice for Harrison County to return to the elite of the 10th Region again where a trip to Rupp Arena is the goal instead of just being satisfied with making it to the Mason County Fieldhouse.

Best of luck to the 2007 Breds as Tournament time draws near. Go out and win a District Championship!
