Good showing for the Patriots in this rivalry game. They are better than last year. Two long interception returns, one for a score and one all the way to the one yard line, and a punt return for a TD that was called back to the FS 20 after a block in the back well into the return, made the difference in this one. The offenses seemed pretty well matched but the big plays went in the favor of ACS. Field position battle was definitely won by ACS. They had a terrible kicking game but were smart enough to squib kick each kickoff which FS had trouble handling and the Wildcats never got good field position. FS came out flat and ACS was ready to play. The Wildcats got deep into Patriot territory multiple times but came up short too often. FS played better defensively in the second half. The lightning delay was handled much better by ACS as they came out firing and FS was flat again after the delay. Hopefully the Wildcats will focus and regroup as they have a tough district test on the road at Adair County coming up next week. ACS would have a good shot at their district title if it wasn’t for them having Paducah Tilghman in their district. I expect their games against Logan County and Warren East to be very entertaining.
