15th Region Boys Basketball Preview

Featured Replies

The 15th region is loaded with talent again this season but early on it looks to be a 3 team race for the best team in the region. The 15th has moved to a new hybrid model for its regional tournament and now every team will make it to the regional tournament. Your District Champions will have a bye into the quarter finals and 2-4 in the districts will battle it out for a chance to move onto the final 8 teams in the tournament.

1.    Martin County ( 24-11) - Martin County returns 4 of 5 starters from last season’s regional championship team. They should be the early on favorite to repeat with four seniors in the starting lineup.

2.    Pikeville (22-8) - Life after Sammons will be an adjustment for Pikeville, but they still have a talented team led by Johnson and Fitzer.

3.    Pike Central (21-9) - Pike Central is the sleeper of the big 3 for the region and are anchored with a loaded squad led by big man Jaden Stewart.

4.    Floyd Central (19-9)
5.    Lawrence County (19-15)
6.    Magoffin County (16-11)
7.    Shelby Valley (18-10)
8.    Prestonsburg (14-15)
9.    Betsy Layne (19-11)
10.    Johnson Central ( 14-16)
11.    East Ridge (12-17)
12.    Paintsville (14-17)
13.    Belfry (9-24)
14.    Phelps (6-21)
