Ryle 4 Highlands 3

Final!!! Very entertaining game. Highlands struck first in the bottom of the 1st with 2 runs off starter Grant Ashcroft. Ryle answered back with 1 in the top of the 3rd on a misplayed ball in right field that looked like the fielder didn’t see at all. This just set the scene for all the fireworks that came in the 7th inning. Down 2-1 headed to the 7th inning Caleb Mann was walked to lead off the inning and Highlands quickly pulled its pitcher at the time and brought a big right hander in that threw hard. He quickly struck out Cody Hemmert and Keegan Flaherty. Bringing up Landon Sawyer. After a call of a hit batter was deemed he didn’t attempt to move out of the way of, Landon hit a fly ball to deep right field and the right fielder misplayed the ball again and dropped the fly ball. Caleb Mann raced around the bases and scored from first to tie the score while Landon ended at 3rd. The next hitter Roman Furtado hit a 2 run homer to right center putting Ryle ahead 4-2. Highlands ended up scoring 1 run in the bottom of the 7th but with a runners on 1st and 3rd the final out was made on a line out to RF. 
Both teams pitchers threw great as they kept the hitters off balance the whole game. Ryle ended with 4 runs on 5 hits and Highlands had 3 runs on 5 hits. Ryle used 4 pitchers over the 7 inning while Highlands used 3.

It was a great day to be out watching baseball and I was treated to a great game.

Ryle is 3-0 on the season with wins over Bishop Brossart (9-1), Scott (12-2 in 5 innings), and now Highlands (4-3).

This was Highlands first game of the year so it was a tough way to start the season for them.
