Frederick Douglass 5 Simon Kenton 2

Recommended Posts

SK drops our first game of the season at Frederick Douglass last night 5 to 2. Not a lot of highlights from this one. SK fell behind 2 to 0 after the first inning. Landrey Dance struck out the first 2 batters, then Aaliyah Long drew a base on balls. Jules Johnson the doubled in the right center field gap scoring Long. Johnson then scored on a fielding error by SK before Dance struck out the 3rd batter of the inning. In the top of the 4th, Larkin Mitchell lead off the inning with a single, followed by a walk to Emilie Young. Mitchell was thrown out on a steal attempt to 3rd, Young advanced to 2nd. Hannah Schwier then had and RBI double followed by an  Adreena Barton RBI single. The 5th inning SK had a scoring threat with 2 outs Alexis Baker & Mitchell both drew walks, the a double steal had them both in scoring possession. Young lined out hard to 3rd to end the threat. Frederick Douglass put the game away with 3 unearned runs in the bottom of the 5th. Both SK pitchers, Dance & Addi Johnson, threw well. We just need to tighten up our defense and we will win plenty of close games as the offense isnt always gonna be on top of good opponent pitching. Proud of the girls for competing and not quitting when adversity strikes!

Next Up:  at Pendleton County today at 6pm

JV1 won their first game 9 to 5. Game was shortened due to injuries to Frederick Douglass. They had 3 girls get hurt in the game and didn't have enough to continue. Prayer to those girls for a speedy recovery!
