Game was alot closer than score indicates, Knott led by 10 or so in the 1st qrt and I believe 2 at the half. Hazard pulled away in last 5 min. Hicks had 35 (8 three's).

Saw this one coming. Good win for the dawgs. Seems that Knott caught Hicks on an "ON" night. Knott on the other hand are very scrappy and can play with anyone in the region.

Knott will be right there in the midst of things come tournament time. They showed the can play with both JBS and Hazard. We will see later this week what they can do with Breathitt and PCC, man what a schedule! Got to be a rough week for the Patriots. A little more defense on Hicks may of been nice, people need to realize he doesn't penatrate he just wants to shoot, so when he gives that jab step to the basket people just need to learn to stay on his shooting hand because the jump back and shot is coming. When defenders start realizing this, like Breathitt County's did, his shot percentage will come down and more and more people will get wins against the dogs!

When Breathitt County played Hazard they played a box and one so therefore there was always two people guarding Hicks. If they would have played Hazard man to man im sure Hicks would have put up the same numbers on them. Also Hicks shot 8 layups last nite so he had to have drove some!!

If he shot 8 layups, they must of been uncontested, because he is not that type of slasher player. Not saying that is bad, but Hicks is smart, he takes what is given to him, so if they gave him 8 layups that is what beat the Patriots. I was just saying if people are in the paint, more than likely he is not going to the hole, he most of the time, fakes like he is and jumps back for his favorite shot, the three! If people play a box and chaser on him, which like you say usually puts 2 people on him, that is the best way to play them and it also will limit the layups because you have help in the paint if he does go by!

 

And you can't play Hazard man to man, they have to many athletes! You don't let athletes run around the floor, you try to slow it down on them and make them play the slow down game, pack in zone and make them shoot, the other guys may hit a couple but they aren't going to beat you like Hicks can, so put one on him and the rest in a box or diamond, which ever you prefer and take your chances!

Knott played them m2m and only one player was in double figures the others didnt hurt them problem is Hicks went off. Guess thats how it goes when he gets hot.

That is what happens when you play man on him. They have to many set plays where he comes off of multiple screens, which is great coaching by Coach Morris. If you have a shooter like Hicks I would try and get him as many looks as I could too!
