BluegrassPreps.com 2nd Region Week 9 Review

Lyon County is with out a doubt top dog in the 2nd, the win over Madisonville was the nail in the coffin. Hopkinsville and Madisonville are still a cut above the rest. Caldwell County, Union County, and Henderson County are right there together and could change places at anytime. Hopkins Central and Webster County have some things to work on to get back where they was just less than a month ago.

#1 Lyon County (14-5) With wins over Caldwell County, Madisonville, and Henderson County, plus a trip to The All A State. Travis Perry's 28.2 ppg and Jackson Shoulders 19.2 ppg and 9.6 reb has the Lyons alone at the top. The loss in the first round of state though could be concerning for post season hopes on going to the big dance.

#2 Hopkinsville (13-4) Coach Babb has his team playing at a elite level and on a 10 game win streak. The Tigers shoot really well and play great team ball. Look for them to make a real run at a region championship.

#3 Madisonville (14-7) The Maroons have lost 3 of 5 games to good opponents and even with Cline quitting the team they handled Webster County fairly easy. Look for Jon Newton to have his team back on track soon.

#4 Caldwell County (15-5) Has one of their best records in recent history, had a set back to Webster County by 5, but handled district foe Hopkins central by 10 twice. Jabrion Spikes and his 30.7 ppg continue to shine.

#5 Union County (13-6) Winners of there last 4 and behind the play of kaleb kanipe and Izaih Manual beat district rivals Henderson County by 9 and Webster County by 24. Coach Quirten has this team playing well and favorites for the 6th district as of now.

#6 Henderson County (12-9) Lost to union County by 9 and Lyon County by 20, but are still hanging around the top 5 as usual with there steady play.

#7 Hopkins County Central (8-8) lost 4 of 6 last games and two to Caldwell County who they will probably play come district time. Coach Fraliex's team may be experiencing growing pains, but hope with Marcus Eaves 27.6 ppg and 9.6 reb along with Drake  Skeen's 3.5 three's a game they get it together quick.

#8 Webster County (10-12) lost to Union, Henderson County, and Madisonville before a double overtime win at Caldwell County. The hope to gain back there early season composure.

#9 Trigg County (10-10) Coach Burgett is beating the teams he should and gives good teams a run in losses. Will there defense and big 3 on offense be enough to pull off a upset come district time?

#10 UHA (7-10) Good win vs Calloway County but that is about all for the usual region giants. Still can make a region tourney spot but will have to play better to make any noise.

#11 Crittenden County (10-10) With Travis Champion averaging 19.8 ppg the Rockets have no great wins but no bad losses to stay close in the top 10.

#12 Christian County (6-15) Have lost 10 straight, things don't look to be getting better for the struggling Colonels.

#14 Dawson Springs (2-18)

#15 Ft. Campbell (2-14)
