BluegrassPreps 6th Region Week 1 review

After only one week, there is already some movement in the rankings.  Read below to see how the 6th region boys are doing so far:

1. Western (3-0)  The Warriors have shown so far that they deserve their pre-season #1 ranking.  After two easy wins over Shawnee and Fairdale, they defeated  highly touted Elizabethtown 72-63.   Jr. G Trent Hinkle leads the team in scoring at 14.3ppg, but they have 4 players averaging double digits.  They next play Valley on 12/7

2. Jeffersontown (2-0)  The Chargers have moved up the rankings with two impressive wins, a blow-out victory over Fairdale and a 66-64 win over highly ranked PRP.  There are no stats on file, but the Vasser brothers (sr. Will and so. Dre) have been leading the way.  Up next is an intriguing match-up with Doss on Tuesday.

3. PRP (1-1) The Panthers move down a spot after their loss to J-town, but based on their pre-season performance and talent, they stay in the 3rd spot.  The Panthers did look impressive, defeating Doss in their first game.  Zee McCown is pacing the Panthers (20 ppg).  They next take on Valley (12/10)

4. Doss (1-1)  The Dragons had an impressive bounce back after their loss to PRP by defeating J. Hardin  94-71 on Sat.  There are no stats on file as of yet for that game.  As previously mentioned, Doss and J-town meet on Tuesday, and that will tell us a lot about both teams.

5. DeSales (1-2) Rarely does a team move up the rankings with a 1-2 record, but DeSales has been impressive so far.  OT losses to highly ranked Male and Trinity were followed up with a win over John Hardin.  The Colts currently have a balanced attack, with 5 players averaging double figures (Austin Cole-Carr leads team at 15.7ppg)  They next play Central on 12/9

6. Fern Creek (2-1)  The Tigers started out with easy wins over Moore and Valley, but lost to Cincy Taft 78-61.  As expected, sr. Darian Lewis is pacing FC at 16.7ppg.  They next face Southern on 12/7

7. Bullitt East  (1-1) The defending Region 6 champs stumbled out of the gate, losing to John Hardin, but rebounded with a win over Breck Co.  Sr. Tucker Blandford is leading the Chargers at 20ppg.

8. Iroquois (2-0) A pleasant surprise have been the start of the Raiders - two nice wins over Valley and Southern. They have 4 players averaging double figures, paced by sr. Davion Burton (17ppg).  They next play Moore on 12/7

9. Evangel  (0-3)  The Eagles have started out slowly, but have played a very tough schedule and are possibly missing some of their key players. Guards Kyran Tilley and Christian Spalding are pacing Evangel so far.  They next play Fern Creek on 12/9

10. Southern  (1-1) The Trojans started out the year with a great win over Butler, but then lost to Iroquois.  Sr. G  Camden Pfeister is at 20ppg.

11. Bullitt Central  (1-1)

13. Butler  (1-2)

14. Beth Haven (2-0)

15. North Bullitt (1-2)

16. Fairdale (0-2)

17. Moore (0-3)
