BluegrassPreps.com 12th Region Week 1 Rankings and Review

Featured Replies

Lincoln County, Boyle County, and Pulaski County have started like one would expect contender to start. The rest of the region is looking to identify themselves more clearly. There is a much larger number of games this week pitting regional teams against each other. The picture should continue to become clearer.

Team Rankings

1.      Lincoln County – The Patriots start the season off perfect with a thirty point win over Lafayette and a 7 point win over Cane Ridge (TN) at the Marshall County Hoopfest. Tramane Alcorn, Evan Smith, Colton Ralston, and Jaxon Smith all are averaging double digit scoring through the first two games and are certainly presenting as the core four on this team. It’s an all 12th region week for Lincoln this week with games against Wayne County, McCreary Central and Somerset.

2.      Boyle County – The Rebels, shorthanded in the early part of the season from football, squeaked out a one point win over Spencer County. They face Somerset before kicking off the 2A sectionals against Lexington Catholic.

3.      Pulaski County – Pulaski had a spectacular week with wins over Madison Central, West Jessamine, and Danville. They continue their 12th region heavy start with McCreary Central, Casey County and East Jessamine.

4.      West Jessamine – The Colts had a rough start, scoring 50 in two losses, one against Great Crossing and one against Pulaski County. They play in the Toyota Classic this week, starting off with South Laurel.

5.        McCreary Central – Trey Davis made 5 three-pointers en route to 20 points as the Raiders fell to South Laurel 56 – 53. They bounced back, however, to takedown Rockcastle County. They face Pulaski County, Lincoln County and Danville this week where they will certainly have the opportunity to show if they belong among the contenders in the region.

6.      Rockcastle County – Daniel Mullins led the way for the Rockets in their opening night win against Southwestern with 19 points. Unfortunately, Rockcastle lost their next two games to McCreary Central and Harlan County. They face Burgin, Somerset, and Madison Southern this week.

7.      Danville – Danville lost all three games last week, dropping games to Woodford County, Lexington Catholic, and Pulaski County. They look to bounce back this week as they face Mercer County, Casey County, and McCreary Central.

8.      Wayne County – Kendall Phillips in averaging 17 points through 2 games as the Cardinals defeated Burgin and Garrard County. They face Lincoln County and Southwestern this week.

9.      Garrard County – Ethan Cooper is averaging 23 points through 2 games as the Golden Lions defeated Somerset Christian but fell to Wayne County. They have matchups against Corbin and Model this week.

10.  Mercer County – The Titans defeated Whitefield Academy handily with Evan Hart, Trevor Ellis and Sam Baughman scoring in double figures. They face Danville and Western Hills this week.

11.  East Jessamine – The Jaguars defeated Somerset but dropped games to Sayre and Scott County. They face Franklin County and Pulaski County this week. Isaiah Daniel is the leading scorer through three games.

12.  Somerset – The Briar Jumpers had a win against Russell County and a blowout loss to East Jessamine. They face Boyle, Rockcastle, and Lincoln this week.

13.  Southwestern – The Warriors fell to Rockcastle County and Green County. They face Somerset Christian, Wayne County, and Allen County-Scottsville this week.

14. Somerset Christian – They defeated Casey County handily but fell to Lynn Camp and Garrard County. They face Southwestern and Model this week.

15.  Casey County – Though falling to Somerset Christian and Madison Southern, Casey County did defeat Danville Christian in overtime. They play Danville, Pulaski, and Burgin this week.

16.  Danville Christian – There are four averaging double figures for DCA as they leave week one with 1 win and 2 losses, the most exciting game being an overtime loss to Casey County. They face Lynn Camp and Burgin this week.

17.  Burgin – The Bulldogs start with 3 losses in as many games but have a chance to earn an in-region win this week as they face Rockcastle, DCA, and Casey County.
