Scott 64 Lloyd 58

Oh my goodness what an intense nail biter this one was.

The Scott High Eagles played host tonight to a feisty bunch of Juggernauts from Lloyd Memorial who were coming into tonight’s game riding high on a 5 game winning streak looking to make a statement to make clear that their streak wasn't some fluke.

The Eagles struck first as big guy junior center Cameron Patterson from Scott did a fantastic job crowding up the interior helping to deny Lloyd much of anything close to the basket, and anything they put up kept rolling off, and Scott cashed in and built a nice lead ending the first quarter up 20-9.

The Juggs began to figure it out, and their shots were beginning to drop as they managed to knot things up by halftime 30 all. Not sure where Patterson was this quarter, but I don’t recall his presence in this period as was there in the 1st quarter, and Lloyd took advantage of it.

Lloyd finally got their first lead of the came in the beginning seconds of the 3rd quarter when they went up 32-30, but Scott responded and all the while they kept a 4 point lead most of period 3, they nailed a 3 to end the quarter extending their lead to 7 up 48-41, their largest since the early part of the game.

In the 4th quarter they got that lead up to about 11, but the Juggs weren’t going to go away and fought back to get within 2 when the score was 58-56 with about 1:30 left to play.

Again Scott responded putting Lloyd in a position to have to foul with under a minute to play, and Scott kept leaving the door open missing the front end of the one and one 3 times in a row. Lloyd didn’t cash in but one of those times and cut it to 3, but had to continue the foul game, and finally Scott gained some breathing room down the stretch to pull out the win.

Really a dynamite game from start to finish.
