Class 1A

Pikeville has single-handedly changed the reflection of the Class 1A Top 5 with previous wins over Paintsville and Raceland. The Panthers will look to shake it up one more time when they travel to Hazard to take on the second-ranked Bulldogs. Bethlehem has their own agenda for a ranking adjustment. Fresh off a big win over Louisville Holy Cross, they will square up Campbellsville with gigantic playoff ramifications looming. In southern Kentucky, Williamsburg will look to hold off surprising Pineville with the winner taking claim to the District 8 race.

Class 2A

It is a huge week in Class 2A with three games pitting Top 10 teams against each other. Lloyd Memorial pulled away from Newport in the second half to set the stage for a huge clash against NKY powerhouse Beechwood for District 6 supremacy. Murray's goals of unseating Mayfield must first start this week against Caldwell County. The main event though will be in Lexington as LCA will host Somerset in an absolute must watch match-up. Not only will the winner take the driver seat in the district, it may be the win that helps lock in a 1-seed overall in the RPI.

Class 3A

District 7 has almost come to a head. After Russell punished Greenup County and Ashland held off a game effort from East Carter, we get the match-up in northeastern Kentucky we have been waiting to see as the Red Devils and Tomcats clash in Flatwoods. DeSales still has one more Top 10 team left to come, but will first look to polish off Western Hills a week after surviving a thriller against rival Christian Academy of Louisville. Two teams just outside the Top 10 who easily could be in it are Taylor County and Glasgow. Those two will battle with each looking for a statement win.

Class 4A

Johnson Central's District mates have had nothing for them so far as the Golden Eagles have rolled with little resistance. Harlan County may be the best chance to force them to break a sweat. Boyle County also keeps flexing their muscles. Lexington Catholic was no match for their offensive prowess as the Rebels impressive dominance continued. They will look to keep the momentum going against Anderson County. In contrast, District 1 is the epitome of competitive. Madisonville forced a three way tie by outlasting Hopkinsville and it will be up to the rest of the regular season to see who ends up with the all important home field advantage. Franklin County will put their perfect mark on the line against a Waggener team looking for a rebound after losing to Central.

Class 5A

Frederick Douglass has done nothing to tarnish their name and relinquish the top spot, but Covington Catholic's shocking win over a Top 100 nationally ranked team definitely earned the respect needed to make them the new favorite in the class. The Colonels' win over LaSalle (OH) sent shock waves and they will want nothing more than to shake up their rivals from Fort Thomas. Another northern Kentucky team that kept their hopes alive was Conner who survived a scare from Cooper. Owensboro has their last real obstacle in District 1 with a scary Graves County team.

All was well for Manual as the Crimsons earned a well deserved statement win against St. Xavier, with it they also took the driver's seat for a district title. The Tigers must bounce back against Butler or else they will spend the playoffs on the road most likely. Male will look to continue their awesome regular season run as they look to add yet another ranked victim to their hit list when they travel to Fern Creek. The Hardin County showdown inches closer and now is merely a week away but first both teams have to take care of business in their remaining District slate.
