cootyb25
Boone had to fight to the last to get this win. Mcauley played a gritty game and almost pulled off the upset.
bjim
I assume Mcauley must be one of top ranked teams in the state.
MVPNash
Nope...just a very discipline/patient team. They tried to hang with Boone athletically and realized mid-way thru the first quarter, after Boone had 20pts that they had to take a different approach. They went to a packed-in zone defense and a Princeton style offense to slow the game down to a snails pace. Boone continued to try to force things and let them back into the game. McAuley took a 6-8pt lead at one point during the 3rd quarter. Fookes made a defensive adjustment to take away the screens/back-cuts and then Boone started to utilize their perimeter game to eventually knock down seven 3’s and took the game back over. McAuley is not a great team. They were ranked 4th in Cincinnati, but not in the State. They used the exact same tactic against one of the top teams in Ohio, Lakota West, and that game ended up a single digit game as well. They lull their opponents to sleep and then make backdoor cuts. It’s a very frustrating style of play, but it was a smart thing to do and paid off for them.

CoachK
InDAZone, sounds like McAuley was pretty well coached ? We have seen that type of play before haven't we? Congrats on the first game !
