Class 1A

Pikeville certainly has a flare for the dramatic. Ffor the second time in two weeks, the Panthers had to hold on for dear life in a close game against a fellow 1A Top 10 foe. The Panthers will turn their attention to powerhouse rival Belfry this week. Williamsburg is searching for their own statement win against the newly minted top ranked team in Class 2A, Somerset. Hazard has their eyes on a Commonwealth blue blood in Danville, although the Admirals aren't quiet the heavyweight everyone is accustomed to.

Class 2A

After Mayfield took one on the chin from 6A McCracken County, there is a new name in the pole position for Class 2A. Somerset will take their ranking and immediately face a stiff road test at 1A Williamsburg. Lexington Christian Academy and Beechwood both had attention grabbing wins, but both also have games against 4A powerhouses that they will be decided underdogs entering the contest. We see a good bit of 2A versus 3A crossover in the back half of the Top 10, with both Murray and Caldwell County getting the tougher of the games.

Class 3A

It was brutal week for the best of Class 3A as five of the top six teams all took losses against really stout competition.The lone hold out was Bell County, who were on a BYE. The Bobcats get a quality test in 5A Whitley County. Christian Academy of Louisville and Belfry each will try to avoid a two-game losing skid, but will have to beat a pair of teams ranked at the pinnacle of their classes. Ashland found crossing the Ohio River unkind and will welcome a Buckeye foe, but Ironton is very stout. DeSales and Taylor County will look to avoid upsets against large school foes from Northern Kentucky.

Class 4A

It will be an action packed week in Class 4A with half of the Top 10 facing ranked foes, including our first clash of ranked teams from within the class itself when Wayne County and Harlan County square off. Lexington Catholic will look to keep their hot streak going and try to collect their second straight win over a highly ranked fellow private school. Last week, they survived DeSales and now will square up LCA. Boyle County will host the Christian school from Kentucky's other large city when CAL visits in a battle of top ranked teams. Central's brutal schedule has been low on wins and it continues with defending 5A defending champion South Warren.

Class 5A

It was a perfect 10-0 for the Top 10 teams in Class 5A and the rankings saw very little movement as a result. Highlands had perhaps the best win of the week by taking down 6A Simon Kenton, they look to knock off yet another Northern Kentucky team from the highest class this week in Ryle. It is a Warren County versus Jefferson County flavor as well when Bowling Green and South Warren take on ranked powerhouse programs from Louisville.

Class 6A

The big one is upon us. Perhaps the two top teams in Kentucky will meet as the landscape of 6A will be majorly effected when Trinity visits Male. On the other side of Louisville, the crowd numbers may not be as big when Fern Creek hosts Ballard, but it will also have major playoff implications as well. Ballard is riding high off a huge overtime win against Christian Academy of Louisville. Henderson County makes their Top 10 debut after a statement win against Hopkinsville, they will look to hold their spot against Anderson County.
