Class 5A

Scott County won over Lafayette, but their lackluster performance against a General team with low expectations knocks the Cardinals off the 1-line. Scott County will have a chance for redemption against a very good Manual squad. Frederick Douglass, Covington Catholic, and South Warren have all looked solid so far and will be expected to continue that trend. Highlands lost to one of Tennessee's best mid-sized schools, but in the process validated that the Bluebirds are a legit contender. Owensboro had a similar outcome against a State Runner-Up from Indiana that they came up just short in as well, the Red Devils need a good showing against rival Owensboro Catholic to get back on track. The team with the best chance to make a statement is Pulaski County, fresh off a hard fought win against Wayne County. If the Maroons can beat 4A Corbin, it would do wonders to build momentum.
