Classic preview results at Russell Tuesday night

What were your thoughts on the teams that played at Russell tonight?

Heres mine

Elliot over Lewis County by about 30

Elliot ran and played aggressive as always, Ferguson still has the turn around put back off the rebound going , Faulkners got a lot of steals but did not shoot as good as they can, Ferguson is their best rebounder, but they are going to struggle on the boards against bigger teams

Lewis County played hard as always, not very big and didnt appear to have as good as shooters as they normally do, looks like they will struggle this year

Greenup County over Fairview by about 11

Fairview had the lead with about 10 minutes to go before Greenup County pulled away, Fairview played hard and will get better, Barker played his usual hard nosed game and hit several 3's, new big boy Armstrong did some nice things inside, Brown was the best player for Greenup. Greenup moved the ball pretty good and hit some shots, but didn't appear to want to push it like they did in years past, look for some more "Ward Ball" to be played this year

Russell over Fleming County 75-42

Russell could have named their own score against Fleming and ran the floor well from the outset. Several possessions looked a little shaky and they missed some layups early but they had a bunch of fast break layups and Austin Robinson led them in scoring with 21, Blair had about 3' 3's, ferguson had a couple and Ross "big stack" Turner was dominating inside and was the first player down the floor several times, While Scott "the highlight" Gill had a couple of nice dunks. At times Russell looked shaky, and other times ran some great breaks, a typical opening scrimmage for a team that was pre-season ranked 25th by the Courier Journal and fixing to play 5th ranked South Laurel in Rupp on Saturday night.

Seems like several people still don't believe this is the RUNNING Rusell Red Devils:ylsuper:

Prime time is almost here!

Russell clearly was the best team. It is a long season and time will tell if the run-n-gun style is here to stay. The team seems happy with the style and are playing together really well.

Fairview was a pleasant surpise and will be heard from down the road.

Greenup has a solid team that will contend.

Elliott has an excellent 3 headed sophomore monster. I was also impressed with some of their role players.

Fleming and Lewis both played extremely hard but are very limited offensively.

IF Russell plays this season like they did in the preview no one in the 16th will touch them. They were easily the best team on the court Tuesday night with Elliott being the second best.Of course Fleming attempted to beat Russell by pressing and pushing the ball which played right into the hands of Russell. If they play each other during the regular season I will interested to see if Fleming plays the same style.Russell will benefit tremendously by playing South Laurel.Turner is running the floor very well.
