Look for the senior trio of Korbin Spencer, Gage Evans, and Tanner Dickerson to lead the Lions into the region semifinals on Friday.

LEWIS COUNTY vs ASHLAND This game could be the best of the first round matchups. The Lions are on a ten-game winning streak and have the best fan following in the 16th Region. Sam O'Keefe and Seth Wright lead the scrappy Lions. Ashland counters with an athletic team led by Devaunte Robinson. The key to this game will be who can make the most perimeter shots.

 

Prediction: Lewis County

 

Game #3

 

WEST CARTER vs ROWAN COUNTY Another dandy first round matchup in Morehead. The Vikings stumbled down the stretch but rebounded to win their district. Mason Moore will need some scoring help in this one. West Carter was 30 seconds away from upsetting Elliott County in their district final. They feature a balanced team that plays extremely hard. First team to 50 will win this one.

 

Prediction: Rowan County

 

Game #4

 

RACELAND vs BOYD COUNTY Two very perimeter-oriented teams will close out the first round of play. Blake Stewart and Talbott Taylor will be the primary targets of the Ram defense. The Rams counter with four players who can score 15 any night. The difference will be the role players from Boyd County.

 

Prediction: Boyd County
