It has been a very long time since a Lexington public school was at the top of the 6A rankings. Male could not retain their status of King of the Hill against St. Xavier, opening up the opportunity for Frederick Douglass to move to the catbird seat. The Broncos now get a Henry Clay team who would love to prove they are still the gold standard in Fayette County. St. Xavier has to think they have their own claim to stake, but before they can make their argument they must first thwart a Butler team that simply keeps winning. Male will look to bounce back in one of the nation’s oldest rivalries against Manual. Simon Kenton handled their business and smoked the Camels. The Pioneers will be a tough out in the playoffs.
