South Warren 49 Hopkinsville 17

Featured Replies

South Warren kicked to Hoptown and on the first play Hoptown Tom advantage of souths your in the secondary. A 50 yard strike to Dunn but Hill stripped it and Bush picked it up and returned it for a 70 yard South TD.

The next Hoptown possession saw another long pass of 70 yard to Souths 3 yard line. Hoptown tried to run it in and the front line and Line backers for south were to much forcing a Hoptown Field goal.

South then put together a drive on the arm of Spurrier and the Legs of Harrison capped by a 14 yard Harrison TD run. 14-3

Hoptown answers quick on their next possession with a long TD pass to Dunn making it 14-10. Upon which South immediately answered on their drive to close out the first 21-10.

South then changed up its defense from a 4 man front to a 3-4 with extra DB. They started jamming the Hoptown receivers at the line and Lacey along with timed pressures from the linebacker trio of Cross Teague and Shea shut the Hoptown Tigers down. South would go on to score on its next 3 possessions in the second to extend the lead to 42-10 and finally end it in the third off a fumble recovery returned 30 yard for a TD making it 49-10 and a running clock.

South would pull its starters and Hoptown followed letting the young kids get some play time. Hoptowns youngsters would beat Spurs deep late in the 4th to score with 1:50 to go and make it the final score of 49-16.

Notes Bush 4 TD”s. (Fumble recovery returned 70 yards, interceptions returned 70+/- yards and to rushing TDS from inside 5 out of wildcat formation).

Harrison 2 rushing TD’s. And Dinkins has the other TD on a 30 yard fumble recovery.

Spurrier looked good and comfortable throwing to multiple receivers. Gallahair, Bush, Afam, Harrison to mention a few.

Great start by South, great coaching adjustments to shut Hoptown down after the first.

Hoptown is going to be dangerous in 4a with Dunn as the receiver. He’s fast and tall and hard to defend one on one.
