LakeCumberlandSports.com is an internet broadcast and media company out of Somerset, KY founded by four guys who love High School Sports and love broadcasting! When local radio decided to opt out of airing High School Sports; We decided to jump in. In 2016, we worked with an out of state company and did well. Starting in 2017, we decided to do this all by ourselves and we have been in Overdrive ever since.

We have been named the Official Broadcast Partners for both Southwestern and Pulaski County High Schools. We will be doing Football, Basketball (Boys and Girls), as well as Baseball, and Softball in the spring. We may even sneak in some other sports as well.

We can be found at LakeCumberlandSports.com and on Tune-In. All games will be archived throughout the season, so if someone misses a game we will have them covered.

15. Ashland Tomcats (4A, 1-1)- Ashland bounces back with a nice shutout victory over rival Raceland. George Washington, West Virginia will be stern test.

14. Harlan County Black Bears (5A, 1-1)- Harlan County couldn't stop shooting their own foot and could not defeat Hazard. A win over Tates Creek would be a pleasant surprise.

13. Rockcastle County (4A, 1-0)- The Rockets looked youthful against Lincoln County and things do not get any easier against a veteran Whitley County team.

12. Russell Red Devils (3A, 0-1)- Russell fought valiantly in their debut but fell in Overtime to Greenup County. The Devils square up their rival from across the river Ironton.

11. Greenup County Musketeers (4A, 2-0)- The Musketeers pulled it out late. Now they try to assert themselves against the other top team from the NEKY 3A District.

10. Whitley County Colonels (5A, 1-1)- Whitley completely overpowered a pretty good Leslie County team and their season opener doesn't sting as much after what Corbin did this week. Rockcastle will once again test their physicality.

9. Paintsville Tigers (1A, 2-0)- Paintsville just keeps winning in the Chirico era. They now play one of West Virginia's big boy schools in one of their toughest non-district games.

8. Hazard Bulldogs (1A, 1-0)- It wasn't a sterling season debut, but a quality win over a physical 5A squad certainly isn't chopped liver. They square up their second big school in Letcher Central.

7. North Laurel Jaguars (5A, 2-0)- The Jags roll on once more and their Offense seems to be in mid-season form. East Jessamine should be a winnable game.

6. Southwestern Warriors (5A, 2-0)- 6A Dunbar was no match whatsoever for the Warriors. They now take on an even better 6A foe in Madison Central.

5. Pulaski County Maroons (5A, 1-1)- Despite losing SKY bragging rights the Maroons proved they are still a team firmly in the 5A picture. This week is a chance for redemption.

4. Wayne County Cardinals (4A, 2-0)- The Cards impressed many with their gritty win over Pulaski County. Warren East is next and is no slouch.

3. Belfry Pirates (3A, 0-1)- Belfry looked good for three quarters against one of West Virginia's premier teams but could not close it out. The Pirates take on 6A Bryan Station with a foreign 0-1 record.

2. Corbin Redhounds (3A, 2-0)- How bout them Redhounds? The Corbin D was superb in a huge victory over the best Tennessee 3A has to offer. Corbin now gets a Game of the Week.

1. Johnson Central Golden Eagles (4A, 1-0)- Johnson Central lived up to the hype and overwhelmed a really good Capital, WV team despite not having their star RB most of the game. JC will travel to Lexington to take on 6A Henry Clay.

Three Teams Getting Noticed:

Bell County Bobcats (3A, 2-0)- Bell hasn't exactly played murderer's row, but Dudley has his team looking improved.

Phelps Hornets (1A, 1-0)- What a difference a year makes. From losing 38-18 to East Ridge to winning 32-8. Coach Jones has his Hornets improving.

Floyd Central Jaguars (3A, 2-0)- It has to feel good for the South Floyd kids who went 0-11 last season as the Jags open 2-0 in impressive fashion.

Three Teams Wanting to Hide:

Breathitt County Bobcats (3A, 0-2)- Through two games Breathitt has been outscored 98-18 and have been non-competitive.

Estill County Engineers (3A, 0-2)- Estill had some optimism entering 2017 but a pair of tough games have ate away at those hopes. Western Hills outclassed them in nearly every facet.

McCreary Central Raiders (3A, 0-2)- Speaking of optimism.. McCreary fans were throwing around home playoff game aspirations but their Defense has done little to back up those claims. McCreary has allowed 106 points in their first two games.

Player of the Week:

JR DB/WR Brandon Turnmire, Phelps- 4 INT's vs. 2A East Ridge

Turnmire was a ballhawk in Phelps' season opening win. Turnmire picked off 4 East Ridge passes and added some all-purpose yards on Offense as a bonus.

Game of the Week:

#5 Pulaski County Maroons at #2 Corbin Redhounds- Both teams had early season instant classic games that went down to the final possession. A Corbin victory may just vault them to the #1 spot as it would be their third high quality victory, Pulaski meanwhile does not want to start 1-2. Expect a huge crowd and some downright nasty hitting.
