NewCath, who was 4-0 in the last 5 days is saddled with a loss today as they lose to the 8th ranked team in Ohio Division I, McAuley. The Mohawks rap out 12 hits, and take advantage of 6 walks and 2 hit batters, all of whom scored, to down the Breds 14-4 in 6 innings.

 

NewCath's Haley Meyers was cruising through 2, allowing only one hit, but in the 3rd the Mohawks push across 4 on 2 hits, 2 walks, a HBP, and sac-fly. NewCath was putting the bat on the ball through 3 (only 1 K), but just could not find a hole.

 

However, in the the 4th it looked like the Breds were going to dent the board......with one-out, Meyers and Jenna Fryer with sharp singles to left and center, the next batter, Kennedy Bin hits a rocket between the SS and the 2nd base bag, but pinch-runner, Bailey Gray runs into the SS for the 2nd out, and Lexy Breen lines-out to right to end the inning.

 

After McAuley goes down 1,2,3 in the 4th the Breds get on the board scoring 3 runs, all with 2-out. Following the only other NewCath K's, Kacy Zimmerman singles to left, Kathryn Schreiber is hit by a pitch, then Fr. Sam Grause lauches a triple to the right-center gap to plate Zimmerman and Schreiber. Grause would score when Meyers grounds sharply to SS, but the throw is off the mark.

 

McAuley would get 2 runs back in the 5th on a walk and 3 hits. NewCath would get it's last run in quick fashion in the 6th, as Bin and Lexy Breen would hit back to back doubles, but that would be all the Breds could muster.

 

The Mohawks put up an 8-spot on the Breds in the 6th, keyed by 2 3RBI doubles.
