Senate Republicans Vote to Suspend Committee Rules, Move Forward with Price & Mnunchin Nominees

 

With the committee rules suspended, the 14 Republicans in the room voted Wednesday morning to move the Mnuchin and Price nominations to the full Senate.

"They on their own accord refused to participate in the exercise," Hatch said about the Democrats on the committee. "They have nobody to blame but themselves."

 

Not sure I'm a fan of this.

I'm torn it is a parlimentary rule and not a constitutional rule so it is legal. The Democrats refused to attend the committee hearings or even vote on moving forward . So I do believe these candidates have a right to be voted on and the Democrats would not even allow a vote. It is just nature of DC now and outside of nominating a Democrat I didn't see an end to the Democrats stonewall.

Yep and that's why I said I'm not sure about it.

 

While I don't necessarily think either guy is maybe the best choice, I do feel both are absolutely qualified for their positions, specifically Mnunchin. Since in my mind qualifications aren't an issue, I feel the vote needs to happen and both be confirmed.

I am. They made a choice to not participate. Maybe they went to a protest to cry, who knows, who cares.

Happens every day in Frankfort, no biggie really still have to get full Senate approval.
