The Varsity Cardinals needed a win at Tates Creek on Friday night following Thursday night’s last-second loss at Rowan County. The team answered the call. Jordan Graham led the Cardinals with 18 points and 5 assists. Ryan Cooper had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Will Philpot had 14 points and 7 rebounds. The Cardinals won, 61-47.

The score was tied at 13 after the first quarter. Will Philpot led the Cardinals with 7 points. The Cardinals opened the second quarter with 12 unanswered points. Unfortunately, Will Philpot picked up his second foul with 3:06 remaining in the second quarter; subsequently, he was replaced in the lineup. The Commodores made a tiny run to close the margin by halftime, 27-21. Jordan Graham led the Cardinals with 6 points in the second quarter.

The Cardinals gained 3 points over the Commodores in the third quarter as GRC led, 42-33. Jordan Graham led the Cardinals with 6 points in the third quarter. Tates Creek made a run of 10-3 at the beginning of the fourth quarter. The Cardinals led, 45-43, with 4:40 left. The Commodores sent many Cardinals to the free throw line to extend the game; however, GRC made 10-of-12 from the charity stripe down the stretch to win, 61-47.
