Keep an eye on Bardstown junior Destanie Love

So far this season, the tall, athletic forward (jumper and sprinter in track, also plays VB) has amassed 12 double-doubles in 18 games, and is doing her best work toward unlocking her potential during the 2017 portion of the schedule. She's posted double-doubles in each of the six games and is averaging 23.8ppg and 14rpg during that time. Tigers are 5-1 during that span, their lone loss a near-upset at Nelson Co.

She went off in a pair of district games last week, torching Bethlehem for 30/17 and Thomas Nelson for 29/15.

Against TNHS, I watched her make an incredible leaping deflection of a cross-court baseline pass, tipping it to herself and managing to stay inbounds, outletting to start the break. Next defensive trip down she closed about 15 feet on a shooter to swat away a shot. Both were jaw-dropping "WOW" plays. To start the second half, she put together her own 13-0 run to put away the Generals.

If she keeps working hard, she can only get better from here. Check her game out if you see Bardstown play.

Destanie has some what flown under the radar because she hasn't played any AAU ball up to this point. She is a superior athlete who is turning into one heck of a basketball player.

How did Bardstown even lose to TNHS the 1st matchup? Regardless, they turned it around and have the 2nd best player in the district with Love. Premier will be begging this kid to join them in the very near future.

For the last 3 years Bardstown has started slow due to the majority of their team plays a fall sport. This year their top 7 players either played soccer or volleyball, and two of those girls were coming off injuries from volleyball. If I recall the first time Bardstown played TNHS they started a 7th grader, 8th grader, and a freshman.

In seeing all the teams in the district, I really don't know who is better than her. I would say she is the top college prospect in the district with her freakish athleticism, length, and ability.

Neither team could score a lick. It was something like 12-10 at halftime, and I might be being generous.

Those girls have started all year.
