Figs Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Not bad for a rebuilding year......so far. Good to see the defense playing well this early in the season.
The Scribe Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 Starters held HCC to 39 yards and scoreless until they were pulled in the third quarter. Sophomore Brandon Bridges rushed for 273 yards on 21 carries and had 4 TDs. Trigg rushed for 402 yards on 40 carries. The starting defense has allowed one touchdown in 9 1/2 quarters.
Figs Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 How did Bush throw the ball? Is this team going to continue to feature the run? This team is looking similiar to the '03 team that featured a big O-line, Justin Martin in the backfield and a stingy defense. Am I on the right path?
The Scribe Posted September 2, 2006 Posted September 2, 2006 From what I've seen, their defense is much quicker to the ball this year. Not as big but they are back to the days of putting 9-10 in the box every play. Hopkins Central is a passing team and threw for just 60 yards. Bush was 6-13 for 68 yards, all in the first half. He was the victim of a couple of drops and minus their top receiver, who sat out. He is looking more comfortable each game, but the running game behind the big line has been impressive so far.
Figs Posted September 2, 2006 Author Posted September 2, 2006 Thanks for the update, Scribe. Might make the trip down next Friday. More to come as the week progresses...........
