4A district 6 standings and district champs predictions

Featured Replies

With the season winding down and only one more conference game left i thought i would break down the current standings and give some insight to how everything looks and could play out for the teams.

Current Standings

1. Rock (7-1) (3-0)

2. Wayne (7-2) (3-1)

3. Knox (4-3-1) (2-1)

4. Tie Clay and Russell both (0-3)

If rock beats Knox Central this Friday night then the district is sealed and Rock will finish first followed by Wayne then Knox. However if Knox wins then that would create a 3 way tie that would put everyone at 3-1 in the district and would require a tie breaker rule to apply that goes based off points from the non district wins.

As of today Rock and Wayne both have 15 points each. Here is a break down of those points and the remaining schedule for both Rock and Wayne non district wins and their opponents.

Rock non district wins:

Bourbon County-(4-4)

South Laurel-(3-5)

Garrard County(4-4)

Somerset(4-4)

**Lincoln County (1-7)

Total points 15

Wayne non district wins

North Laurel-(6-3)

Perry County Central-(2-6)

Bell County-(2-6)

Mercer County-(5-4)

**Monroe County-(2-6)

Total points 15

The total points for both teams is not including the last game listed as that game has not been played. Points was only counted for the W's already achieved.

Looks to be a very close race that could come down to the final week of play but could all be decided by the end of the night this Friday based on how the games are played out.

Let's look at how many points could be attained by the remaining schedule of the teams that Wayne and Rock have already beat and attained points for.

Rock non district

Bourbon County-(4-4) Harrison County-(5-3) and Pulaski-(7-1)

South Laurel-(3-5) Lincoln(1-7) Clay County(1-7)

Garrard-(4-4)Lexington Catholic(3-5) West Jessamine(3-5)

Somerset-(4-4) Middlesboro(1-7) Perry Central(2-6)

**Lincoln County-(1-7) South Laurel(3-5) Rockcastle(7-1)

**There are 9 more points possible for Rock if the remaining teams win out.**

Wayne non district

North Laurel(6-3) Montgomery(1-7)

Perry Central(2-6) Harlan Co(2-6) Somerset(4-4)

Bell Co(2-6) Jackson Co(2-6) Harlan(2-6)

Mercer Co-(5-4) George Roger(1-7)

**Monroe Co-(2-6). Greene Co(1-7) Wayne Co(7-2)

** Wayne can attain an additional 7 points if remaining teams win out.**

As you can tell based on remaining points if a tie was to occur the odds that the district stay in the order they currently are is pretty favorable. Rock should remain 1 and Wayne should finish 2.

Based on how I see the points playing out look like this.

Wins in bold.

Rock non district

Bourbon County-(4-4) Harrison County-(5-3) and Pulaski-(7-1)

South Laurel-(3-5) Lincoln(1-7)Clay County(1-7)

Garrard-(4-4)Lexington Catholic(3-5) West Jessamine(3-5)

Somerset-(4-4) Middlesboro(1-7) Perry Central(2-6)

**Lincoln County-(1-7) South Laurel(3-5) Rockcastle(7-1)

**Additional 6 points earned.

Wayne non district

North Laurel(6-3) Montgomery(1-7)

Perry Central(2-6) Harlan Co(2-6) Somerset(4-4)

Bell Co(2-6) Jackson Co(2-6) Harlan(2-6)

Mercer Co-(5-4) George Roger(1-7)

**Monroe Co-(2-6). Greene Co(1-7) Wayne Co(7-2)

**Wayne to gain additional 4 points**

If this plays out this way then final point standing would be:

Rock- 21

Wayne- 19

I feel this district has been the most fun to watch and most competitive in 4A all year. This Friday night Rock has the chance to make this entire thread null and capture the district title outright as they should handle Knox Central especially since Rock would love to make it to region final and the entire team wants to make the trip to Bowling Green this year. Hear is to a great district finale and the first step to starting the playoffs!

Let's hear everyone's thoughts on how this district should play out!
