Major struggle for CCH to find any rhythm in this one in a game they should probably lost. I think probably zero shots on goal in the first half.

Elder is now 1-1-1 on the season, scoring 2 goals in 3 games.

Colonels in my opinion need to try some new things offensively to generate consistent pressure against quality teams. 2 shutouts in the last 3 games does not bode well for them as the tougher part of the schedule begins.

 

Would love to see a lineup with Stava/Wulfeck up top, Griffin Lamb wide right, Jacob Blom on the left side and Schutt/Russo in the middle of the field.

I didn't see the Elder game but IMO CCH has struggled to generate good scoring opportunities in most of their games do to some players struggling to play under pressure/lack of confidence on the ball. Very poor player movement off the ball, aka killing grass. Not looking to possess and build up the attack by playing simple, playing the way you are facing, 1-2 combination play, sharing the ball, etc, etc. These deficiencies lead to poor tactical decisions such as bypassing the midfield and playing everything long and direct into their strikers. In HS where most teams are not that good at organizational defending, most rely on individual play, the better defensive teams simply have strong, fast athletes that can get to the ball and clear it up and out. The easiest HS team to defend is the one playing direct, long over the top to the striker.

If CCH can start to play simple, keep possession, build up the attack, share the ball and get numbers forward allowing them to become creative this will cause major confusion for the opponents to defend. This will solve all of CCH scoring issues. CCH has a good number of scorers, but they aren't and won't be utilized playing every ball direct to one striker. Build up, get creative in the attacking third and SHARE the ball and the goals will come in bunches.

Agreed but they also need to get their outside backs into the attack. It was a major component of their scheme last season but has been absent so far this year. Lots of standing around without the ball and watching the other players dribble.

Yes getting those OSBs forward would be a big help, but hard to do with so many turnovers by CCH teammates further up the field which results in the opponent bringing the ball right back at the back 4. And it goes to the SHARE the ball part, I've seen the OSBs get forward this year numerous time and their runs were wasted, teammates not getting them the ball.
