When this post went up I thought it would generate some traffic. Not sure if the soccer threads have lost contributors' through graduation or because the season has not started yet, or what? I have noticed a significant lower amount of traffic on both the boys' and girls' soccer threads.

Without question the most difficult time to make accurate predictions is the first week of any sports season, but here goes.

Maybe this will get this (soccer threads) kick started.

My guess is it's a bit early to have that much interest. I think once some games are played there will be a little more chatter on this but I do agree that some people have probably moved on after their kids have graduated. I also think some schools discourage their parents or players from being on here.

I missed calling Hull over Leicester City, but I'll go out on a limb with a couple of Maher "upset" predictions with goal scorers to boot...

 

St Henry over CCH 2-1... Lamb with a singleton; Sanders with a brace. May well be the top two teams in Region 9.

 

Beechwood over HC 2-0... goals by Moses B. and Bogden S. An early statement of intent for Beechwood.

 

Highlands over Trinity 1-0... Trinity lost a lot of offense to graduation (Murr; Fischer; Hoddinot; Goetz) but returns a nearly intact defense. Highlands defends well and Farris nets a wiinner (or maybe Gish).

CovCath will be going for the sweep tonight after the CCH frosh and JV were both victorious over St. Henry last night. Nice crowd for both games. I'd say St. Henry is the solid favorite in the varsity match given that they return so many starters and seniors.

 

Disagree on the Trinity/Highlands prediction. Trinity had a very solid JV side last year and should be reloading and not rebuilding so much.

Trinity reloads every year... my upset pick is based on Highlands being much improved not Trinity being "down."
