Beautiful day for softball, but the Breds fall short in free softball (extra innings, for the uninitiated), has the Pioneers come from behind to get the win.

 

NewCath starter Haley Meyers goes two no-hit innings, before being lifted with a sore elbow, and So. Jaden Watts enters the game in the top of the 3rd and doesn't surrender the 1st Simon Kenton hit until the 5th.

 

Until the bottom of 4th, SK's Fr. Samantha Glover had only surrendered 1 hit, an Alex Burkart 2nd inning single to center, but with 2-out and a runner on via a walk, Katie Kelly hits a triple to the right-center fence to score Jenna Fryer. In the Simon Kenton 5th Haley Perry reaches on an E5, Hayley Reynolds singles to left, a sac-bunt by Kylie Kennedy puts runners at 2nd & 3rd, with one-out. Aubrey Dance gets the RBI GO6-3, as the Pioneers dent the scoreboard.

 

7th grader Macy Krohman enters the circle to start the 6th, and is greeted by a Jaden Watts double that one-hops the leftfield fence. The next batter, Kacy Zimmerman singles to left and their at 2nd & 3rd with the top coming to bat. Kathryn Schreiber RBI single to rightcenter, Lexy Breen RBI single to leftcenter, and with one-out, Meyers gets the RBI GO4-3.

 

Glover leads off the bottom of 6 with a single to right, Krohman likewise to left, following a K Hannah Perry doubles in a run, then little sister, 7th grader Haley Perry with a 2 run double has the Pioneers within one.

 

NewCath gets a leadoff single by Burkart, but she is erased :facepalm: on a double play courtesy of a shoe-string catch at 2nd. The SK 7th starts off with a free pass, Glover sac-bunt, but the ball is dropped on the out play at 1st. Following a PO5, Anna Telesz bunts the runners over to 2nd and 3rd, but there are now two-out and the Breds clinging to a one run lead. However, the 1st pitch to Hannah Perry is way outside and skips off the catchers glove and on the WP, Brummett scores the tying run.......the next pitch is a PO6.

 

8th inning - International Tie-Breaker

 

With Bailey Gray at 2nd, Zimmerman lays down a great sac-bunt, but the throw to 1st from the catcher is high and goes into rightfield and Gray scores. The next 3 batters are all out on infield plays.

 

The SK half of the 8th has Hannah Perry at 2nd, and she moves up to 3rd on little sister, Haley's, single to left. Two pitches later Perry tries to score on a PB that takes a nice bounce off the fence back to Zimmerman who flips onto Watts who applies the tag. Haley Perry advances to 2nd on the play and moves up to 3rd via a WP. Perry would score on Hayley Reynolds single to left. With two-out and the score tied, Lillian Brummett "jacks" one to the rightcenter gap for the game winner.

Love reading about Glover. I know for a fact she worked hard all winter on both hitting and pitching both.

Shes done great this year.imo shes been the better pitcher even if the numbers dont show it
