Anyone know anything about Nelson under Coach Brunner?

Anyone know anything about Nelson under Coach Brunner?

I should but I don't. They scrimmaged Shelby County the other day and got knocked around pretty good, but the local report was positive because Nelson County's players apparently responded well and did not quit, which was not always the case last year. Incidentally, Shelby supposedly has one of the better teams they've had in years.

I do know that Coach Bruner has modified the offense (so they will be getting out of the Wing-T apparently) and the defense, so the whole system is learning it. I also know they are very small on the lines, that they had good numbers come out for football this year (primarily newcomers, but nevertheless a positive sign), and that the coaching staff is mostly new, though they kept Ron French.

I know very little in the way of the personnel on the field at this point.

I have been told by some that Coach Bruner has been businesslike, very secretive and somewhat obstinate with local folks (which is probably a good thing IMHO), and rather truculent with the local media (that's fine). What this experiment really boils down to is whether Nelson County decides to prioritize kids or politics. Right now its politics. I hope it changes.

Coach Bruner is a hell of a coach, and I wish him and Nelson Cnty the best of luck. Hope he is able to settle in smoothly. I am sure it is a very different situation for him considering he has coached at St. X and Cincinatti Colerain.
