Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. The top three played very well this week showing why they are ranked in the top 3. They are the first tier before the drop off to 4th place and the 2nd tier. Here are the rankings as of 2/01/16.

1. Paducah Tilghman (19-4)

The Blue Tornadoes won three games this week. They won a close one to Marshall County as Sayveon McEwen led the way with 23 points. They will have a big game this week as they travel to Graves Co on Feb 2. Tilghman only has 5 games left on the season schedule. If they get by Graves, I don’t see them losing again until maybe the regional tournament or the Sweet 16.

2. Murray (19-4)

Murray made the finals of the All A Classic State Tournament before losing to a very strong Cordia team. They took down some good teams in Bishop Brossart, Green Co. and Owen Co. They represented Region 1 big time and proved that they have the ability to win Region 1 too. They play a much improved Taylor Co. and Quinton Gooden this week on Feb 6.

3. Graves County (14-7)

Graves recovered from their loss to Hopkinsville by defeating Calloway Co. and McCracken Co. They have solidified their spot as the no. 3 in the region and can prove even more they host Paducah Tilghman on Tuesday. If they win that game, it becomes a 3 way race a top the region.

4. McCracken County (16-5)

The Mustangs had a chance to make a statement when they hosted Graves Co this week, but they fell short They should have no trouble against Hickman or Lyon Co. this week, but on Saturday they will play University Heights and two of the top 10 scorers in the state in Tandy and Holowell.

5. Marshall County (12-9)

The theme this year for the Marshalls is they lose close games and that theme continued as they played at Tilghman and lost by 6 points in a very tight game. They prove they can play with all the top teams in the region, they just haven’t proven they can beat them. They should win against Livingston Central, but will be the underdogs when they play Muhlenberg Co. and Graves Co.

6. Carlisle (15-6)

The Comets showed they are the dividing line within Region 1. They took significant losses to both Murray and McCracken Co, but did defeat Mayfield in a close one. They should win all three games this week against Fulton City, Fulton Co. and CCA.

7. Ballard Memorial (8-12)

Ballard Memorial has now won 3 of their last 4 games and Keagan Cooper is leading the way averaging 15 points per game in that span. They moved a spot and will play Mayfield, and Livingston Central this week.

8. Hickman County (7-12)

Hickman lost to Ballard Memorial by one point in one of the closest games of the week. They also defeated Fulton City convincingly. They will play at McCracken Co. and Fulton Co this week, as well as a game against South Fulton, TN.

9. Calloway County (6-13)

Play a good game against Graves Co but fell short and then soundly defeated Caldwell County. The Lakers continue their struggles losing 9 of their last 11 games. They will travel to Mayfield and Murray this week.

10. Mayfield (6-13)

Lost all three games they played this week to Carlisle Co twice and Paducah Tilghman on the road. They will host Calloway Co, Ballard Memorial, and Hancock Co this week. If they can a couple wins, they can move up in the standings.

11. Fulton County (6-12)

Lost big to Ballard Memorial and then defeated CCA in a beatdown. They will host Carlisle Co and Hickman Co. this week.

12. Fulton City (11-13)

After winning 3 of 4 the previous week, the Bulldogs dropped 3 in a row before beating Clarksburg, Tn. They play Carlisle on Friday..

13. St. Mary (9-13)

Vikings loss to McCracken Co in a closer than expected game and defeated Livingston Central soundly. They have a tough week ahead when they travel to Murray and to Paducah Tilghman.

14. Christian Fellowship (5-16)

Defeated a team from Tennessee and lost a close one to Burgin. They play CCA and a team from Illinois this week.

15. Community Christian (1-17)

This team doesn’t quit, but they just do not have the talent to compete with the rest of the region.

Player of the Week

James Boone, Murray – had highlight plays throughout the All A Classic including a crossover three at the buzzer to defeat Owen. Co. (
