Region 1 Rankings (1/4/16 Week 5)

Featured Replies

Remember these rankings will be based on current play and not just the record or one good/bad game. St. Mary's made a move up over the holidays Here are the rankings as of 1/4/16.

1. Paducah Tilghman (9-2)

The Blue Tornadoes suffered their first losses of the season to St. X and Doss at the Meijer Holiday Classic. Both are good teams and give a good idea of where Paducah Tilghman stands in the state. They had cracked the top 20 in the BGP rankings, but after the two losses will most likely drop out and will need to earn their way back in. They have the talent to do so. Huge game at Christian Co on Friday.

2. Murray (11-3)

Murray had an okay holiday break going 2-2 at the Traditional Bank Classic. The most surprising loss coming at the hands of a Henderson County team they should have defeated handily. They have a game at Ballard Memorial who they should beat convincingly and keep hold of the 2nd place in the region.

3. McCracken County (10-2)

The Mustangs lost their undefeated season during the holiday Randy Penner Classic. They lost by 3 to Jeffersontown and by 1 to Mason County after they came from 16 down to take the lead. They are proving to be for real but they have a tough week ahead of them. They will play at Graves Co. and have Trigg Co. at home.

4. Graves (7-6)

Graves continues to play good basketball but just can’t seem to get over the hump against better teams. They won 3 in a row before losing their last 2 in a Florida Holiday tournament. They play McCracken, Mayfield, and Marshall Co. all in the next week.

5. Marshall (8-4)

Marshall has been up and down since winning their first 5 games. They have lost all but 1 away game so far this year. They were significantly defeated in two games in a Florida tournament over the holidays. They will play Calloway and Fulton Co this week.

6. Carlisle (8-3)

The Comets played very well over the holiday break winning 3 of the 4 games they played and won the Class A Carbondale Holiday Classic Championship. However, they have to win against in state competition before they will move up in the region. They are playing better and poised to make a move in the next few weeks. Jan 26 should be their first big test in region play.

7. St. Mary (7-8)

St. Mary’s was the big mover this week in the region rankings. They moved up to 7 from number 10 mainly because they are winning some games. They had a very busy holiday season (7 games) winning 4 of those games. They have a big game against Paducah Tilghman this week.

8. Ballard Memorial (4-9)

Ballard Memorial is in a serious downfall right now. They lost all but one game over the break and that was against Calloway Co which keeps them ahead of Calloway for now.

9. Calloway County (4-8)

Has lost 5 of their last 6 games and are struggling to find a consistent offense. They play McCracken, Mayfield, and Marshall Co. this week. Will need to play their best games in hopes to snap the losing skid.

10. Fulton County (3-6)

Won their first two games of the Itty Bitty Trees and Trends Classic and Christian Fellowship including a win over rival school Fulton City then lost to Trinity Whitesville.

11. Mayfield (3-7)

Pulled a huge upset of University Heights and then played 3 tough opponents in Russellville, Paducah Tilghman, and Fern Creek. They also lost a close one at home against St. Marys.

12. Hickman County (3-9)

The Falcons won against Lyon Co., but lost big to Fern Creek. They play some winnable games the next two weeks and can move up in the region rankings.

13. Fulton City (6-6)

Record seems to say they should be ranked higher, but the only teams they have beat have been other region bottom dwellers.

14. Christian Fellowship (2-11)

Lost in overtime to Walden. Rematch is Thursday.

15. Community Christian (0-9)

Just not enough talent on the roster to be competitive, but they continue to play hard each game.

IMPACT Games this week

1/5 McCracken Co. @ Graves Co.

1/5 Paducah Tilghman @ St. Mary

1/8 Paducah Tilghman @ Christian Co.
