In the Battle of Newport, the win goes to the Breds.

NewCath was in control from the tip, as the Breds rebound from last evenings set-back to Scott. While the Wildcats had a slight advantage in height, they were unable to get the ball in the paint. They did have quite a few real nice drives to the rim, and a couple of really nice "dimes" down low. Both teams were guilty of at least 15 traveling violations combined, it was the craziest thing I've ever seen. NewCath will need to cut-down on the turnovers as they face stiffer competition.

NewCath frosh, Kara Zimmerman had a hell of a game at both ends of the floor, while Schalk and Davenport had very nice offensive outputs this evening......great job ladies. :ylsuper:

I mentioned in the update thread that this must be Newport senior, Kylie Orr's, 10th varsity season....obviously I kid. However, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she has been a varsity starter since 7th grade. She's a hard-nosed player, and she's not afraid to launch from anyehere in the gym. She hit 2 "triples" tonight from at least 30 feet, and both were "nothin' but net". Also, as I mentioned in the update thread, she let one fly from one step over the mid-court line early in the 4th quarter......and it didn't miss by much.

NewCath 19-10-17-30---76

Newport 08-11-11-17---47

NewCath - Davenport 24, Schalk 16, Zimmerman 13

Newport - Orr 23

BTW, 2nd night in a row Highlands Bert Richey and Notre Dame's Wyatt Foust have taken in a Breds game, Glad to see they are NewCath fans. :sssh::lol2:
