CANNONSBURG Ray Graham is trying to positively change the culture of Rowan County football.

 

The veteran coach regarded what the Vikings did Friday night as a sign of progress in that direction — a convincing 34-16 decision over Boyd County at Tom Scott Field.

 

Rowan County ended a three-game skid and picked up its first win in Class 4A, District 8 play this season, rolling up 339 rushing yards one week after compiling 37 in a loss to Greenup County.

 

“What I’m more proud of than anything, when you lose three games in a row, and we haven’t won a lot of games at Rowan County in the past,” Graham said, “for us to come back tonight with a winner’s attitude and to come on the road and win like this, I’m really pleased.”
