MOREHEAD Jared Hunt and Ryan Byrd might have run in 110-degree heat in the Mojave Desert if you’d asked them.

 

Friday at Rowan County, however, the Greenup County seniors faced 52 degrees, steady rain and mud the consistency of chocolate pudding. They did pretty well — they each scored a touchdown in the Musketeers’ 20-6 win.

 

Greenup County coach Chris Mullins had and an ocular inkling during pregame warm-ups of what his team would ultimately do.

 

“Sometimes we have mental lapses in our focus, and … when I looked in their eyes, from the beginning I told my coaches before the first play, I said ‘We’re ready to play (Friday),’” Mullins said. “And they were.”
