It was a great night to watch a volleyball match in Campbell County last night, and the players of both teams didn't disappoint. All five sets were highly contested, but in the end the Dixie Colonels came out on top. In the beginning of the fifth set there were a few anxious moments for the Colonels when Sr. Kylee Fowee and Fr. Leah Metzger collided while going for a ball, with the freshman taking the brunt of the collision. But after a few minutes with the trainer, Metzger was cleared to return, and ended up scoring the final point of the match. "This was a huge win for us," said Sr. Setter Emma Alkofer. "With Districts around the corner, I know we need to keep pushin to get better and better, but I'm gonna cherish this one first for a few minutes."

 

Dixie Jr. Perrin Long led the Colonels in scoring with 20 kills over the Bishop Brossart Mustangs. Fr. Leah Metzger had 18 kills, 14 digs and 5 Aces, and 8th grader Stephanie Coyle had 6 kills on 8 attempts. So libero Lila More had 13 digs and 2 Aces

 

Next up for the Colonels are the Campbell County Camels on Tuesday evening.

I forgot to mention that Dixie's JV won in straight sets. Both of which were very tight and down to the wire.
