ASHLAND An amused Ashland coach Tony Love grinned when he heard that Tomcats senior lineman Taylor Broughton referred to this season as a “payback tour.”

 

That may not be the Tomcats’ official approach to this season, but it’s working out pretty well so far: after a 41-0 throttling of Ironton on Friday, Ashland possesses three wins against teams it lost to last fall.

 

“The kids motivate themselves in a lot of different ways, and we try to take it one game at a time,” Love said. “If you want to call it revenge or payback or whatever it is, I think that’s kind of secondary. For us, it’s about winning the next game, the next one on our schedule.”
