Week 2 Picks

Ashland 27, Raceland 19. If this prediction proves true, it would be the lowest-scoring contest in the series since 2010. It’s early, but I think both will boast stout defenses for most of the season. Big plays and turnovers have been the deciding factors in recent matchups. I see the Tomcats busting out for a big score and popping a ball loose.

Rowan County 49, Bath County 27. The Vikings poured it on Clay County, scoring on every single offensive possession. Bath County, while markedly improved offensively, couldn’t clog up the seams against Fairview, which doesn’t bode well for this week.

Boyd County 26, Lewis County 15. The Lions desperately need a win to boost their confidence. Yep, that goes for both Lions.

East Carter 34, West Union 19. The Raiders notch their first win since Nov. 1, 2013, against the young Ohio program.

Johnson Central 55, Fairland 12. The Golden Eagles slay the Dragons with ease.

Hazard 42, Fairview 28. The Eagles’ diversified offense keeps the Bulldogs off-balanced, but Fairview can’t keep Hazard off the scoreboard enough.
