The first half of the annual girl-boy doubleheader started off well for the visitors.

The Highlands Ladybirds (25-3) won their eighth in a row dominating the Lloyd Memorial Lady Juggernauts, 83-39 on Friday. Highlands is one win shy of matching the win total of the 9th Region runner-up squad two years ago.

Ladybird junior Brianna Adler continued her hot shooting with a career-high 27 points. She made a career-high nine three-pointers on 13 shots.

Highlands saw 13 players score overall. Zoie Barth followed with 10 points and Emma Little came in and scored nine making three triples.

Highlands made 30-of-61 shots for 49 percent, including 17-of-34 from three-point range for 50 percent. The Ladybirds also made 6-of-8 free throws for 75 percent.

Lloyd Memorial saw just one player score in double figures. That was Devin Cheatum with 17 points.

The Lady Juggernauts made 15-of-35 shots for 43 percent, including 5-of-15 three-point shots for 33 percent. They also made just 4-of-13 free-throw tries for 31 percent.

Turnovers again made a huge difference in this game. Lloyd made 15 to two for Highlands. The Ladybirds outscored the Lady Juggernauts, 20-2 in points off turnovers.

Highlands travels to Walton-Verona on Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
