Week one is in the books after high school basketball has kicked off in the Bluegrass Region.

We've seen the answers to some of our questions coming into the season, but as those came in, new questions arose.

Let's Recap:

Team of the Week:

Henry Clay

Player of the Week:

Isaiah Tisdale, Henry Clay

Henry Clay:

Road wins over Holmes, Tates Creek, and East Jessamine leave our Team of the Week at an impressive 3-0. Isaiah Tisdale has stepped up in a big way, and the best may be yet to come. Look for "Pun" to make a name for himself by punishing defenders much like older brother Jeremiah did last season.

Lafayette 78, Madison Central 41:

Big man Sam Jones, one of the top players in the 11th and a kid who is a roadblock inside, sat out against Lafayette, and it would appear that the Tribe missed him, as they were pasted by the Generals, who christened a new season Reed Lane with a convincing win.

Paul Laurence Dunbar:

The Bulldogs are struggling at the moment, but don't let that fool you. They have a skeleton of the team that they'll actually have later in the year out there right now. Once injuries and the like heal, there'll be many reasons for the Dawg Pound to rock. They are one of the most talented teams in the region, and even though the first few weeks might have fans posing some new questions, trust me when I say that this is a team with some legit talent.

Ballard 97, Scott County 72:

With Scott County's games this week, which also included a big win over Warren Central, we've found some questions about the Cards answered.

DJ Jenkins is eligible and playing well. Isaiah Johnson has played in all of their contests so far this season. With that, we can go ahead and put any skepticism about the kind of talent that the Cards will have to rest.

The loss to Ballard shows that this Scott County team is a work in progress, which gives you an idea of how open the 11th is.

Bryan Station:

The Defenders sit at 3-0 after wins at Rowan County and over Dunbar and Knox Central. With the addition of Ronnie Carson after Christmas, this could be a very dangerous team.

This is going to be difficult because we have so many unknowns and we don't have a huge sample size of games, especially games against intraregional and/or common opponents, but it's still fun to discuss so have it at.

I'd like to give a shout out to some other teams in the 11th this week as well:

Madison Southern beat Pulaski County 61-47 in the PRTC Classic at Jackson County High School to get their first win of the season after being previously downed by Madison Central and South Laurel.

Western Hills continues to show improvement, and went to Owen County and only lost by a 70-56 final margin. While Owen County might not be a household name, they are a solid team who has Carson Williams, a high level D1 prospect, as well as some more kids who are in the 8th Region's top 25 players.
