Ram Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Race is on: Fairview can't catch runnin' Rams Rocky Stanley / The Independent RACELAND After getting a first-half scare from rival Fairview on Friday night, Raceland ran away — literally. The Rams advanced to their second consecutive Class A regional, beating the Eagles 41-14 behind a dominant ground game. Raceland rushed for touchdowns on all four of its second-half possessions to break open a game that was tied at 14 going to the intermission. Tough-running ball carriers Carson Christian and Kane Snyder took turns eating up yardage as the Rams rushed for 425 overall behind strong blocking. “The big thing was the offensive line controlling the ball in the second half,” Raceland coach Michael Salmons said. “I’m really proud of that group. They have developed all year. We graduated some good ones from last year and these guys wanted to prove they are good, too. I think that showed all night.” Christian carried 24 times for 185 yards and three touchdowns — two of them coming in the second half. “The offensive line did really good,” Christian said. “It was a close playoff game with a rival team. The blocks were there and we were able to make the right cuts and get up field.” Snyder gained 161 yards and scored twice. His 4-yard touchdown capped a tie-breaking drive to open the third quarter. Raceland (10-2) handled Fairview 48-6 when the teams met in Westwood a month ago, but the Rams uncharacteristically committed two first-half turnovers Friday after taking a 14-0 lead. Fairview converted an interception into its first touchdown and scored again late in the half to pull even. Link
