Raceland channels emotions in blowout of Fairview, 48-6

By AARON SNYDER The Independent

WESTWOOD Wednesday and Thursday were emotional days for the Raceland community.

The passing of Brandy Vanderhoof hit hard.

Raceland hit hard for her on Friday. The Rams demolished Fairview, 48-6, behind a unified effort in Westwood.

Kane Snyder, Vanderhoof’s nephew, zipped through holes and bounced off tacklers throughout the night. The junior finished with 190 of Raceland’s 452 rushing yards to go with four touchdowns.

“We came in wanting to get a good win for her,” Snyder said. “It was an extra boost for our team. I wanted to scored a few touchdowns and get a few yards for Brandy.”

Raceland’s defense limited Fairview’s big-play offense to just four gains of 20-plus yards. One was a 33-yard touchdown run by Jonathan Ruggles, which was the Eagles’ lone score.
