Final.

There was some pretty weird officiating last night. For example, like I said in the update thread, Shawnee QB is 5 yards past the line of scrimmage and he completes a 30 yard pass. The refs originally threw a flag but picked it up even though it was completely obvious he was past the line of scrimmage. It was the end of the third quarter and the CAL coaches were arguing it and the refs called "warning sideline infraction." They eventually changed it to unsportsmanlike conduct for some reason.... Another example, CAL sophomore Crosse Wolfe (FB) busts up a 25 yard run up the middle that had everyone fooled. After he was 20 yards downfield there was a random holding at the line of scrimmage where no one was....

 

I guess I can't say anything since CAL were winning 43-0....

 

On the bright side, the defense was OUTSTANDING. 6 turnovers forced. 5 interceptions and a fumble recovery. CAL junior DB Cody Morton with 4 interceptions. Sophomore DE Jake Paulson probably ends up with 10 tackles, a fumble recovery, and most likely 2-4 sacks. Senior Dylan Shouse also with an INT. The only yards Shawnee got were passes to a triple teamed #15 (who was amazing on offense and defense). They probably only completed 4-5 passes. Great job by the defense.

 

The offense was very very good. CAL junior WR/DB Cal Lewellyn (funny his name is also the schools acronym) had 2 receiving touchdowns and a rushing touchdown on an end around. Tanner Young looked really good. The line gave up a little too much pressure but did draw Shawnee offsides A TON. The kicking game was great between senior Nathan Bader (extra point/field goal guy) and freshman Jackson Schieber (kickoff guys/also a running back) who kicked a lot of touchbacks and happened to also have a rushing touchdown.
