Greenup County’s Ryan Byrd is quietly becoming one of the area’s top rushers.

When you rush for 447 yards in a single game, it will get people talking.

The soft-spoken running back prefers to let his play on the field do the talking for him.

He is described by his teammates and coaches as a humble, quiet kid but his performance on the field is speaking volumes to the rest of the area.

“He has great vision, great balance and natural strength, and he has a tremendous motor,” Musketeers head coach Chris Mullins said. “He is a guy, as in the West Carter game, who gets better throughout the game.”

Byrd’s jaw-dropping performance last September against the Comets came in the midst of a stellar sophomore campaign as he piled up more than 1,000 yards through six games.

Great kid.

I hope he can stay healthy this year and get a full season in.
