12 hours after tasting defeat on their home field against Highlands the Breds play across the diamond at Vets #1 at 10:00 this morning and defeat the Newport Wildcats 6-2.

NewCath wasted no time getting on the board, scoring 4 runs on 5 hits. Michaela Ware led the game of with a single to right, Casey Kohls RBI double to the fence in left, Schreiber advances to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike, Loren Zimmerman RBI GO4-3, Taylor Burkart RBI single to right, & a Sarah Neace RBI GO5-3.

Newport plates their only runs in the bottom of the 1st. Katlyn Hoeh reaches on a E3, K, Orr BB, K, Star Yeager 2 run double, as the ball hits and brings up chalk half way down the rightfield line.

Newport would threaten in the 2nd, with one out & base loaded courtesy of 2 HBP & a Hoeh single, Haley Meyers gets a K & GO4-3. The Wildcats defense came up big in the 3rd when Zimmerman led the inning off with a single, but "daddy's little girl (who wasn't gifted with daddy's speed) hits into a 1-6-3 "twin-killing". Then Morgan Martini drives one to the center-field fence, but is gunned down, from here to Lexington, trying to register the triple. :yuck:

In the Newport 3rd, after Meyers retires the 1st batter on strikes, she walks one and hits one and is replaced by Sarah Neace who would finish the game giving up one hit and striking out 8.

NewCath would get a Ware RBI double to left in the 4th, and Zimmerman would score from 2nd on a Burkart smash that ricochets off the 1st baseman allowing Zimmerman to score.

Morgan Martini (3-3) with a solid job at the plate, and Sarah Neace continues to hit a hot stick. :ylsuper: Michaela Ware returns to the line-up hitting the ball hard all 4 times up.

Newport shortstop, Kylie Orr, with a couple of nice plays, the young lady is a player. Loren Zimmerman with a bare-handed "web gem" at 3rd for the Breds......WOW!!!!!:ylsuper:
