Jason Frakes' 6A Forecast

CLASS 6-A

Final pick: Scott County over Simon Kenton.

Potential road block: Scott County should cruise to the semifinals, where they’ll have to go on the road against whoever survives the Manual-Trinity-St. Xavier-Male bloodbath. I picked Trinity to get out of there, pretty much solely based on Bob Beatty’s 59-3 record in the playoffs. But I wouldn’t be surprised to see Male, St. X or Manual reach the semifinals. I think Simon Kenton, McCracken County and Butler are the top three teams in the top half of the bracket. McCracken has home-field advantage, but I see Simon Kenton beating them in the semifinals.

Dark horse: Can St. X really be considered a dark horse? Seems most people have forgotten about the Tigers, but running backs Charles Walker and Austin Davis are as healthy as they’ve been all year. And beating Cincinnati St. Xavier last week was a big step forward.

Best first-round matchup: Manual (8-2) at Ballard (5-5). That’s where I’ll be tonight. Crimsons won a 14-7 thriller over the Bruins during the regular season. Follow me on Twitter @kyhighs for updates throughout the night.

Can't believe that Frakes is going against his transplanted almamater and picking against his beloved Trinity Shamrocks !!!!!! He may lose his kickbacks for that !!
