Over the last 2 yrs, I (as well as the Static Org & players) have had the great opportunity to be involved with the Red's Community Fund as it pertains to Red's Urban Youth Academy (RUYA). I am currently one of the Directors for the Reds as it pertains to softball training/instruction for the academy. As you probably heard a few weeks ago as part of the announcement that our hometown will be hosting the 2015 All Star game, the Red's as well as MLB & PG will be building a 33,000 sq ft indoor facility for the academy in Roselawn. This facility will also include 4 championship ball fields with one of which will be strictly for softball.

 

The softball academy is for anyone & everyone who wants to attend to hone their softball skills. A majority of the kids who come to our fall & winter trainings (Weds night from 630-830 @ the old C.A.P.E HS facility) are generally inner city kids. As these kids (ages 7-18) generally come from a challenging situation vs most of our daughters/players, it has really demonstrated to me what being a coach / mentor is really about. Once the players on my team are off to college, I will be dedicating all my time to RUYA.

 

With all this said, RUYA is implementing monthly seminars to all coaches in the area who want to come on various topics (conditioning, field maintenance, throwing/hitting/fielding fundamentals etc) all free of charge. This Saturday, from 10-12 at old C.A.P.E HS, we will be holding a coaches clinic covering throwing & hitting fundamentals. The hitting style we teach at the academy is Right View Pro, based on all the instruction I have received from Howard & Crystl & as you would think we cover throwing first which then leads into hitting. Not sure how many people on this forum would benefit from something like this but I am hoping if you know of a coach, regardless of the age of team they coach, that may benefit from this if you would so kindly pass along the info below. The Red's Community fund wants to try to help as many people as possible especially those who are trying to help the youth of today & tomorrow. To note, the first seminar focused on conditioning & the speaker they brought in was the Red's Head Trainer for conditioning - it was an incredible 2 hrs of of insight.
