Match up of two quality opponents tonight at 6:30 between SHA and Mercy. Both teams have suffered a break in their team chemistry because a starter went down with a season ending knee injury.

Should be a fun game to watch because each team plays a similar style of fast paced basketball. Who comes out on top?

Mercy had two other seniors out for game but came out on top. Good play from freshmen and sophomores and only other senior Doherty but Hartlage had a strong performance and nearly half the points

This was a really exciting up and down the court game last evening. Congrats to Mercy for a hard fought win. It seemed like SHA played the 2nd quarter with only one starter in the game and held their own by only being down 5 at the break. It was too bad SHA's best players got into foul trouble in the first quarter of this game. (Matula, Ruffin, Johnson) I know after watching this game that if Mercy and SHA meet in the first round of the state tourney, SHA has a really good chance of winning.

I do have one gripe about high school basketball and it's with how games are officiated. I don't know about the Mercy faithful, but the way this game was officiated really did have an impact on the game. I know players need to adjust their game to the way officials call the game, but in this case its tough to do when the officials are not consistent how they call the game. One official called a foul if you breathed hard on an opposing player and another let a lot of stuff go. There seems to be a real problem with consistency of a referee team when some of the officials call college games and some only call high school games. It sure does ruin the game when they call the game inconsistently between the officials.

Hats off to Mercy on the W! Mercy looks to be back on tract after having their chemistry get interupted with the season ending injury to Dierkson. SHA showed a lot of moxy and heart staying in this game. Hartledge made a huge (lucky) from 24' that somehow creeped over the rim rolled around and dropped through giving Mercy a 4 point lead with under a minute to play. Great game!
