With the height advantage, I thought it could be a blow out. As I stated in the prediction thread. GRC will play with lots of guts and heart. Team has really improved from the beginning of the year, and played a brutal schedule to be so young.

Agreed. You can see improvement (despite the record). Lack of height has been rough, but there are a lot of bright spots.

Warner had a great game off the bench tonight. King played well,as did Green, even though he had 3 fouls in the first half. Blanton gives you 110% Battling on the boards against bigger players. I was really suprised in the rebounding. They only out rebounded us by 3 and had a huge height advantage.

Most of the personnel on the Fieldhouse floor Friday night didn't have much to do with the Mason County-George Rogers Clark rivalry at the peak of its intensity.

The latest chapter fit right in, though, as a wildly young and inexperienced Cardinals club went nip-and-tuck with the Royals most of the way before host Mason County claimed a 57-50 victory.

 

"We knew it would be a very competitive game," Royals coach Chris O'Hearn said. "Clark's always gonna play extremely hard, they've got a very young team (and) they've played a very demanding schedule.

 

 

The Royals shot 53.7 percent from the field, making 22 of 41 shots, while the Cardinals converted 38.3 percent of their attempts, sinking 18 of 47 field goals.

The game was tied at 21 at halftime after Clark's Malachi Israel drove for two to close the first-half scoring, and the lead changed hands nine times in the first five minutes of the second half.

 

 

Clark, which has graduated almost its entire rotation two seasons in a row after winning region titles, has struggled mightily by its standards in the win-loss column, but hasn't given up on the season yet.

"We're not to the point of accepting moral victories, but there were a lot of things tonight that we can build upon," Humphrey said. "I feel like that we have made improvement in the last two weeks.
