These two Bardstown schools play tonight at 6pm at Fort Knox in the 5th Region All A championship.

 

The teams met less than two weeks ago at Bethlehem (just a couple blocks away from Bardstown), with the Tigers stopping the Eagles home winning streak at 20 with a 58-49 win. The Tigers got off to a hot start with an 11-2 run to open the game and made it stand up as the Eagles struggled from the field and could never get closer than 6 after that.

 

These teams are even, in my opinion, but Bethlehem is hurt by the fact they didn't ramp up their schedule in advance of having good teams the past few years. As a result, the Tigers -- who have played a much more challenging schedule -- have a tendency to shock the Eagles with their athleticism and press, and it takes a bit for Bethlehem to adjust in-game.

 

On the other hand, Bethlehem seems to be playing slightly better than Bardstown since their meeting, and I think tonight's game could be a thriller. I think the first five minutes or so of the game will tell the story.

 

These teams will meet at least one more time, and will likely meet in the district championship as well, barring upsets. Would be pretty cool if they could set up a fifth meeting, but there's a lot of basketball to be played before then.
