Trinity 51 Western 41 LIT

Trinity very fortunate to be moving on. I'll have more on this when I'm not typing on a phone.

Shamrocks will play PRP in the quarterfinals Friday.

As I mentioned in the update thread, Trinity's Daryl Hicks wasn't in the lineup for this one. He injured his foot during a practice. Jason Frakes of the Courier-Journal apparently talked with Szabo after the game and said told him that he likely wouldn't play in any more of the tournament but they'd be looking at it "day to day."

Losing Hicks really hurt the Shamrocks as they had real trouble scoring. Sam Strothman also didn't play. Gave them real fits under the basket as Western's junior center Chris McCraw was easily the biggest player on the floor by several inches and a few dozen pounds. The replacement down low, DeMarcus Page, fouled out fairly early in the fourth quarter. Nonetheless, the offensive struggles didn't translate into rebounding problems as Trinity had great positioning and managed to grab several key boards down the stretch that allowed them to keep a small lead throughout the final minutes before ultimately expanding to the final 10-point margin from the free-throw line.
